Hugh’s love of painting is only matched by his love of the sea and the life found there. His work concerns all aspects of the maritime environment, be it boats, the sea, the sky or the wildlife found there. His new work concerns a close and detailed examination of the effects that light has upon water and the stunning reflections that result.
Although largely self taught, Hugh owes a great deal to his friend and mentor Albany Wiseman, the well known illustrator. A keen sailor himself, Hugh draws much inspiration from his summers on the Isle of Wight and travels in the Mediterranean. Hugh has been a regular exhibitor with a number of leading galleries in the UK for several years.
